Franziska Buhre is a freelance journalist for music in Berlin. She produces broadcasts for SWR and contributions, among others for Deutschlandfunk. In 2015 she was a member of the jury of the New German Jazz Prize and in 2019 a member of the jury of the SWR Jazz Prize. From 2010 to 2015 she directed the "Berliner Jazztreff", the project of the Landesmusikrat Berlin for young jazz musicians. In 2018 she realized a project with 49 trumpeters from 20 countries in Berlin, "Walls will fall. The 49 trumpets of Jericho" by Mazen Kerbaj. In the same year she founded the festival "Klangteppich. Festival for music of the Iranian diaspora". She was a mentee in the first round of the "Women in Culture and Media" programme of the German Cultural Council, and in 2019 she is a scholarship holder in the CrossCulture Programme of the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations.
